2010 Book Festival Author
Helen Boyd

Author Biography

Boyd's first book, My Husband Betty, explored the relationships of cross-dressing men and their partners. Her most recent book, She's Not the Man I Married is both a sequel and a more expansive examination of gender in relationships. Boyd graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The City College of New York with a degree in literature. Her other interests – a love for the films of Buster Keaton, punk rock, writing fiction, and the history of anthracite coal mining in the U.S. – have taken a backseat to her study of gender. She currently teaches Gender Studies at Lawrence University.
