Albert Valente

Author Biography

Albert (AJ) Valente is the author of Rag Paper Manufacturing in the United States, 1801-1900 (2010), which explores the history of the U.S. paper industry. Valente has a long-time interest in paper creation and currently operates a small business dealing in paper restoration. Understanding that conservation and preservation is of paramount importance to dealers and collectors, Valente began researching the evolution of rag paper and authored several articles on paper history. During 2005-2006, his exhibit The Postal History of Papermaking in the U.S. received acclaim at national shows in Portland, Oregon, and San Francisco, California.

Valente is a San Francisco native and has an engineering degree from Cogswell College. He worked for the Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington, and later became a consulting engineer at Adobe Company, IBM, and Hewlett Packard.
