Fox Cities Reads
The 2013 Fox Cities Reads is underway! Pick up a copy of Last Child in the Woods and the Nature Priniciple by Richard Louv at your local library and join in community-wide discussions about the book. The author will visit the Fox Cities April 22-24 during the Fox Cities Book Festival.
Author Biography
Award-winning Wisconsin author Jeanette Hurt specializes in food, wine, and travel writing. She is also the cheese contributor for "Good Fermentations" on Milwaukee Public Radio's program Lake Effect. Hurt is the author or co-author of a number of books, including: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Wine and Food Pairing (2010), The Cheeses of California: A Culinary Travel Guide (2009), The Cheeses of Wisconsin: A Culinary Travel Guide (2008), The Complete Idiot's Guide to Cheeses of the World (2008), and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Tapas (2008). Her articles have appeared in print and online publications such as Four Seasons Magazine, SecondAct, Hemispheres, and Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Her book The Cheeses of Wisconsin received second place in the 2009 Mark Twain Travel Writing Awards Competition, and her work The Cheeses of California received the 2010 first place award in that same competition.
Hurt graduated from Marquette University and worked for a number of years as a newspaper reporter before becoming a freelance writer. In addition to her writing and contributions to Lake Effect, Hurt teaches culinary and wine education classes.
Additional Information
Jeanette will give an overview and guided tasting to some of Wisocnsin’s best artisan cheeses, and she also will discuss sausage making. Her sausage book coauthor, Chef Jeff King, will be bringing some of his homemade sausages to sample.
