Fox Cities Reads
The 2013 Fox Cities Reads is underway! Pick up a copy of Last Child in the Woods and the Nature Priniciple by Richard Louv at your local library and join in community-wide discussions about the book. The author will visit the Fox Cities April 22-24 during the Fox Cities Book Festival.
Author Biography
John T. McFadden is an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ who served in parish ministry for 34 years, including 23 years as senior pastor of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Appleton. He served as volunteer chaplain for two years at an extended care facility, with a particular focus on pastoral presence to persons with advanced dementia, and five years as workplace chaplain for Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin. He writes and speaks extensively about aging, spirituality and dementia, and serves as chaplain to the memory care unit of the Appleton Health Center. He and his wife, Dr. Susan H. McFadden, are co-authors of Aging Together: Dementia, Friendship and Flourishing Communities. He has most recently authored a brief pamphlet about dementia for use in religious congregations.
