Author Biography
Sandra Kring lives in Wisconsin. Her debut novel, Carry Me Home, was a BookSense Notable Pick and a 2005 Midwest Booksellers’ Choice Award nominee. The Book of Bright Ideas was a 2006 Target Bookmarked™ selection and was named to the New York Public Library’s Books for the Teen Age list in 2007.
From the author:
"When I was in the fifth grade, my teacher, who was reading us our chapter-a-day from a children’s classic, paused, looked up, and said, “Isn’t it amazing that from little black marks on a white page, we can know what was in the heart and mind of someone who lived over a hundred years ago?”
These words became my seeds of inspiration, sticking with me through the remainder of my tumultuous childhood, and through six more years of living without the presence of books in my home. It would take another two decades before I would gain the confidence to put my own little black marks to white pages. The act doing so, and the knowledge that my words could inspire someone today, tomorrow, or years to come, is my greatest source of joy."
